The revision to this product is in response to the Joint Press Release issued on June 15, 2006 entitled "Lessons Learned from Hurricane Katrina: Preparing Your Institution for a Catastrophic Event." The booklet relays financial institutions' experiences and lessons learned in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina that other institutions may find helpful in considering their readiness for a catastrophic event.

According to the guidance, the information contained in this booklet should not be construed as new regulatory requirements, nor do they supplement or modify the guidance provided by the FFIEC in its Business Continuity Planning (BCP) Booklet. However, we felt it was in the best interest of our clients to revise our product based upon some of the issues addressed in this guidance.

What's Revised

Topic 3 - Identified Internal and External Risks. The "Technical and Telecommunications Disasters" subtopic (Telecommunications - item 1.) was revised.

Topic 4 - Policy Description, Authority and Scope. The following subtopics were revised:

Topic 7 - Internal and External Communication. New subtopics entitled "General" and "Mail Service" were added. The "Internal Communications" subtopic was revised.

Topic 9 - Business Resumption Impact Analysis and Risk Assessment. A new subtopic entitled "Supply Impact Assessment" was added. The subtopic "Facilities Impact Assessment" was revised.

Topic 13 - Administrative Resumption Team. The "Critical Utility Information Contingency Strategy" subtopic (Power - item 1., Contingency Strategy - item B.) was revised.

Topic 15 - Operations Resumption Team. The "Monitoring Vault Cash" was revised.

Topic 18 - Contingency Plan Testing. A new subtopic entitled "Extent of Testing Plans" was added.
