Topic 3 - Criminal Background Check Procedures.  This topic was created in response to the FDIC's Financial Institution Letter #46-2005 dated June 1, 2005 that provides guidance on developing an effective pre-employment background screening process.  In addition, this section was also designed to adhere to:


- Federal statute, 12 U.S. Code 1829 (a) (1) (A) (B) (b), which prohibits banks and other financial institutions from hiring individuals convicted of dishonest acts; and


- SEC 17 CFR Ch. 11 §240.17f-2 for securities industries, which requires all employees who handle securities to be fingerprinted in order to potentially detect a criminal background.
